The Theatre of the Oppressed (Forum Theater) is a new for Ukraine method of training and workshop organization, which is world well known. It was initially elaborated in the 1960s in Brazil and later in Europe. Its techniques use theatre as means of knowledge and transformation of reality in the social and relational field. In the Theatre of the Oppressed, the audience becomes active, such that as “spect-actors” they explore, show, analyze and transform the reality in which they are living; it helps to imagine different responses and outcomes to common problems. The audience would suggest different actions for the actors to carry out on-stage in an attempt to change the outcome of what they were seeing.
