Enhancing Civilian Protection in Ukraine through Conflict Management Resource Centres
(2016-2017), with financial support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine.
The aim of this project is to increase the capacity of the local community to address and respond to civil protection issues. As the crisis continues and without clear and coordinated action on behalf of stakeholders who wish to de-escalate and prevent violence, it is crucial to help create mechanisms that are owned and operated on the ground to protect civilians affected by the conflict. An informed, well-connected and active civil society mechanism, working on the ground with best practices in civil protection and supported by an international civil protection organization, will significantly help reduce and prevent violence against civilians and will facilitate a more open space for dialogue, peaceful interaction and possible reconciliation.
